I have a friend in Scotland who starting yesterday and continuing through New Year is going to have an avalanche of people staying at their place: friends, children, friends of children, parents of children’s friends…). Yesterday a pipe buried somewhere deep in their downstairs wall burst and flooded the place. Someone sometime post-Christmas will have to dig through the wall, find where the break is, and figure out what to do about it. In the meantime, there’s a rotating overflow of guests in a house with no showers, no water in the toilets or the kitchen, etc. Let nothing them dismay, indeed… BTW, that wouldn’t be Telemann, would it?
I feel their pain! One December, in Maryland, we were hosting 12 people and 9 dogs for about two weeks. Our house had a well. On the 25th, just as I put the turkey on the table, the well ran dry…
